It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Cabell Midland had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the University Hawks, sneaking past 6-5. The Knights are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 12 straight.
Audrea Watts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on ten hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Becca Conrad was excellent, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicole Harris, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
Cabell Midland's win bumped their record up to 28-3. As for University, they moved to 25-6-1 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
