It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Olympian had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the San Dieguito Academy Mustangs 6-4. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their 12th in a row.
Alexandra Perez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Olympian let NiKayla Flowers and Isabella Zamora run wild. Flowers went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Zamora went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave Zamora a new career-high. Daniela Mendoza was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Olympian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.
Olympian pushed their record up to 18-12-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for San Dieguito Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 18-8-1.
As of now, neither Olympian nor the Mustangs have any future games scheduled.
