It was a good run, but the Lake Minneola Hawks unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell to Lake Brantley 46-40. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lake Minneola has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Lake Minneola still got an impressive performance from Landon Blackwell, who scored 17 points. Blackwell hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Brandon Colbert was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Lake Brantley was led to victory by Princeton Gordon and Landen Paquette. Gordon scored 15 points, while Paquette scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Paquette is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Haluszka, who scored six points.
Lake Minneola's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Lake Brantley, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
Lake Minneola and Lake Gibson will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lake Gibson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 337th, while Lake Minneola is ranked 165th). Lake Brantley won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lake Mary at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th.
