Football Recap: Thompson Piles Up the Points Against Turtle Mountain

Thompson never let their opponents score on Friday. They breezed past the Turtle Mountain Braves to the tune of 52-0.

Rylan Penas was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 145 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 63 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Oster, who rushed for 43 yards and two TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Thompson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 269 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2024.

Thompson's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Cash Danner and Adrian Brend, who each picked up one sack apiece. Jeromy Tyce got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Thompson now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Turtle Mountain, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Thompson is set to take on their familiar foe Park River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Turtle Mountain will face off against rival Langdon/Edmore/Munich on Friday.
