The Ben Lomond Scots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 49-32 bruising from South Summit. Ben Lomond was down 43-19 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Several Scots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dory Jenson, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Jenson is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniyah Gomez, who scored three points.
Leading South Summit to victory were Mariah Bowen and Emma Broadbent. Bowen scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Broadbent dropped a double-double on 21 points and 19 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Broadbent has scored at least a third of South Summit's points.
Ben Lomond's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-12. As for South Summit, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ben Lomond will play host again and welcome the Cougars, where tip off is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (Union is ranked 103rd, while the Scots are ranked 112th). As for South Summit, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Ogden is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
