Fans got a thrill when Timmy Naylor and Sawyer McDonald connected against Lassen. The connection went for 80 yards, the longest such play in Northern this season.
Corning's Alex Davila rumbled for the longest rushing play in the league this season in his game against Yreka last week. Davila ran for 97 yards on the play and finished with 176 on the day as his team topped the Miners.
Jake Thomas was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Grizzlies lost to Central Valley. The 6-foot-2 junior racked up 1 sack.
Jordan Atkinson put up the best numbers in passing as Lassen lost to the Falcons. He finished with 8 completions for 214 yards and 1 touchdown. Atkinson's favorite target this week was Franky Shepherd, who caught 4 passes for 159 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Naylor of Central Valley is the league leader in passing yards this season with 921. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Shepherd. The Lassen star has 36 catches for 531 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place West Valley takes on second place Corning. West Valley defeated Anderson last week, while Corning bested Yreka.
St.jacques tom's team's Case Bennett is a mere 70 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 139 carries Bennett has accumulated 930 yard this year.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Eagles take on John Studer's team. West Valley has allowed 83 points this season, while the Cardinals have given up 119. Greg Grandell's team allowed 7 points last week as it beat the Cubs.
Adding to the longest winning streak in Northern this week, the Eagles beat Anderson 63-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for West Valley.
