Mountain Home will head out to face off against Jerome at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mountain Home has given up an average of 11 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Mountain Home came up short against Twin Falls on Monday, falling 17-7. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Bruins recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Orie Rau was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. Madison Cotton was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jerome). They came out on top against Minico by a score of 16-11 on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Emma Allen was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Ellie Helmer, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Jerome kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.
Jerome's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Mountain Home, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mountain Home has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. However, it's not like Jerome struggles in that department as they've averaged .442. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mountain Home might still be hurting after the 20-9 defeat they got from Jerome in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Mountain Home avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
