Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Buhler

Buhler entered their tilt with Augusta on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Orioles. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Brayden Henry made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Henry was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Mitchel McDaniel was a standout: he got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Dylan Scripsick, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Buhler hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matches.

Buhler's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Augusta, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buhler will take on Mulvane at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Crusaders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Augusta, they will head out on the road to square off against Chanute on Saturday.
