Scranton extended the longest winning streak in Lackawanna 1 this week by beating Wallenpaupack Area, 39-0. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Knights.
North Pocono made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,910 from 10,200. The improvement was the result of 41-7 victory over the Trojans last week.
West Scranton's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jordan McCloe threw for 175 and three touchdowns and Joe Devine had 83 yards receiving. On the ground Demitris Garcia chipped in 38 yards. Cory Jackson-bey helped West Scranton's passing attack out by catching one ball for 53 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Bryan Schor of Delaware Valley is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1674. He has also thrown 18 touchdowns. On the ground, Scranton's Jake McCarthy has rushed for 1098 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Karlon Quiller. The Scranton star has 35 catches for 887 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Mike Marichak's team takes on Abington Heights. The Knights' offense has scored 333 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Comets have allowed only 107 on the year.
John Jones of the the Buckhorns is only 14 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Jones has rushed for 986 yards on 188 carries so far this year.
A big matchup in Lackawanna 1 this week will be when Scranton takes on Abington Heights. The Knights are currently in first, while Joe Repshis' team is in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Scranton takes on the Comets. The Knights have allowed 107 points this season, while Abington Heights has given up 107. Scranton allowed 0 points last week as it beat Wallenpaupack Area.
