St. Martin and Biloxi are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The St. Martin Yellow Jackets are on the road again on Friday and plays the Biloxi Indians at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Mississippi (St. Martin is ranked 30th, while Biloxi is ranked 11th).
Even though St. Martin has not done well against Harrison Central recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. St. Martin walked away with a 49-41 victory over Harrison Central.
Meanwhile, Biloxi put the finishing touches on their 17th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 65-27 win over D'Iberville on the road. Winning may never get old, but Biloxi sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Biloxi found their leader in underclassman Zaniya Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Johnson hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 12 straight games. Another player making a difference was Amari Merideth, who scored 12 points along with five steals.
St. Martin has been performing well recently as they've won 18 of their last 22 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-7 record this season. As for Biloxi, their win bumped their record up to 25-4.
St. Martin came up short against Biloxi in their previous matchup back in January, falling 39-27. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 23 rebounds.
