Baseball Recap: Westbrook Wins Going Away Against Rotan

Westbrook's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Rotan Yellowhammers with a sharp 17-1 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Westbrook got a massive performance out of Jaxson Browne, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Browne is becoming a predictor of the Wildcats' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-6 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Zane Beasley, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.

Westbrook was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .619. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Westbrook's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Rotan, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Westbrook and Rotan could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Wildcats (ranked 923rd) will meet Ira (ranked 357th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Rotan will challenge Stamford at 11:00 a.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (1366 vs. 239).
