The Montezuma-Cortez Panthers will challenge the North Fork Miners at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.
While Montezuma-Cortez's win against San Juan wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Broncos 6-4.

Parker Conrad was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Bodie Stiegelmeyer also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
19 must be North Fork's lucky number: they beat Center with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Miners were the clear victors by a 19-5 margin over the Vikings.
Bronson Hall made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Tiago Alves and Joe Hollembeak did most of the damage at the plate: Alves went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Hollembeak got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Hollembeak has become a key player for North Fork: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Colin McMahon was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
North Fork hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.
Montezuma-Cortez's record now sits at 12-5. As for North Fork, their record is now 12-6.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Montezuma-Cortez hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .389. However, it's not like North Fork struggles in that department as they've averaged .362. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Montezuma-Cortez got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against North Fork by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
