Luke Weaver made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. He has become a key player for Palmer Ridge: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-10 otherwise.
In other batting news, Jackson Streeter was excellent, going 3-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Jameson Wheeler was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Palmer Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pine Creek, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Liberty on Thursday as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Like Palmer Ridge, Pine Creek also got a great game from a two-way player: Aiden Wilson. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Wilson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tristan Mullis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jake Holm, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Pine Creek has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Palmer Ridge, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-11.
Palmer Ridge might still be hurting after the 11-2 loss they got from Pine Creek when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
