The Durango Trailblazers will head out on the road to take on the Sunrise Mountain Miners at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Durango will be strutting in after a victory while Sunrise Mountain will be coming in after a defeat.
Durango not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 6, 2024. They put the hurt on Doral Academy Red Rock with a sharp 3-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trailblazers.
The final score came out to 25-21, 25-16, 25-20.
Meanwhile, Sunrise Mountain suffered their biggest loss since April 30, 2024 on Thursday. They came up short against Legacy, falling 3-0. The Miners haven't had much luck with the Longhorns recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
While Sunrise Mountain ultimately came up short, they really made Legacy work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-17, 25-23.
Durango will have to contain Christian Nevarez as he made an impact in Sunrise Mountain's last game. He had 17 digs and one assist. Nevarez has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last three times he's played. Angel Torres was another key player, getting ten assists and eight digs.
Durango picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 6-9. As for Sunrise Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.
Durango was able to grind out a solid win over Sunrise Mountain when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 3-1. Will Durango repeat their success, or does Sunrise Mountain has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
