The Snow Canyon Warriors fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Richfield Wildcats on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 56-54. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Snow Canyon in their matchups with Richfield: they've now lost five in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Snow Canyon lost, one person who can't be blamed is Olivia Hamlin. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals. Hamlin scored a full 42.6% of Snow Canyon's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Chaylee Andrews, who scored 7 points along with 10 rebounds.
Richfield got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Abbee Albrecht out in front who scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds. Albrecht is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Hallie Janes was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Snow Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Richfield, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Snow Canyon is on the road again on Friday and play against Olympus at 8:30 p.m. on December 1st. Hopefully Olympus focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Thursday. As for Richfield, they will square off against Salem Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Salem Hills focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Thursday.
