Memorial Day found their leader in freshman Johnkeria Miles, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miles has scored all season. Raliyah Rivers was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to nine boards and six steals.
Memorial Day smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Groves, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They blew past Islands 52-8 on Tuesday. Given the Rebels' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 184th, while the Sharks are ranked 492nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Groves now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Memorial Day, their win bumped their record up to 11-1.
