Softball Recap: Assumption Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Assumption owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Mercer County Titans. The Rockets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Lauren Satterly made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Maleya Giddens was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Paige Crain also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Assumption hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive games.

Assumption pushed their record up to 25-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Mercer County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Assumption will face off against Anderson County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bearcats will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something the Rockets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mercer County, they will take on Marion County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
