2A District 5 recap September 24, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Canterbury, who took down 338th ranked Bradenton Christian, 37-0.
The Crusaders added to the longest winning streak in 2A District 5 this week by beating the Panthers, 37-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Garrett Young put up the best numbers in passing as Cambridge Christian bested Keswick Christian. He finished with a total of 8 completions for 144 yards and 3 touchdowns. Young's favorite target this week was Josh Wolcott, who caught 3 passes for 50 yards.
Elias Earley was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 133 yards on 15 carries as Carrollwood Day defeated Calvary Christian. Teammate Willie Parker added to the ground attack by rushing for 136 yards.
Smith was the best wideout in the league this week as the Patriots beat the Warriors. Smith racked up 5 receptions for 147 yards. Dominic Cuono helped Carrollwood Day's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 91 yards.
Taylor King provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Carrollwood Day bested Calvary Christian. He completed 8 passes for 238 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 13 yards.
Bill Jones' team scaled the state rankings by moving to 421 from 495 this week, the biggest jump in 2A District 5. The Crusaders climbed the ranks as a result of besting Bradenton Christian 37-0.
