The Fremont Tigers can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Tuesday. They snuck past Gretna East with a 62-56 victory. Fremont's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Maurice Bryant continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 2 assists. He set a new season high mark in rebounds with five. Another player making a difference was Colin Ridder, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
When it comes to explaining why Gretna East lost, one person who can't be blamed is Talan Hovie. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with six rebounds. The matchup was Hovie's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenden Reeves, who scored 14 points.
Even though they lost, Gretna East were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Fremont's win bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Gretna East, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Fremont will be home for the holidays to greet Norfolk at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Norfolk is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Gretna East's road trip will continue as they head out to face Creighton Prep at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th. Averaging 66.5 so far this season, Creighton Prep's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Gretna East better be ready for a challenge.
