The Putnam Valley Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Yorktown Huskers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Putnam Valley is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.
Putnam Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Haldane with a sharp 19-2 victory on Friday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by nine runs or more this season.
Nicky Benedetto made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Nick Mazzola was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and six RBI. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jay Constantino, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Putnam Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .514 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Ketcham hit Yorktown with a four-run first inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Huskers took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Storm. The matchup marked the Huskers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Yorktown saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jeffery Nunez, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Nunez has hit this season.
Putnam Valley's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. As for Yorktown, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Putnam Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .379. However, it's not like Yorktown struggles in that department as they've averaged .328. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Putnam Valley came up short against Yorktown in their previous matchup back in March of 2016, falling 6-1. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
