The Rangeview Raiders lost against the Rocky Mountain Lobos back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Rangeview fell to Rocky Mountain 49-44. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Rangeview came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Rocky Mountain is ranked 266th).
Rangeview lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Archie Weatherspoon V, who scored six points. Weatherspoon V also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Allen Ervin, who scored five points along with three steals.
Rocky Mountain found their leader in underclassman Daniel Mbadinga-nzamba, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Mbadinga-nzamba pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Avantae Hood, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Rangeview now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Rocky Mountain, their win bumped their record up to 1-4.
Rangeview won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Grandview at 5:00 p.m. on December 15th. Grandview is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. Hopefully Cherry Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday.
