The St. Stephen's & St. Agnes Saints were the 79-64 winner over the Fairfax Christian Cardinals when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. St. Stephen's & St. Agnes took a 52-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fairfax Christian on Friday. While losing is never fun, St. Stephen's & St. Agnes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while Fairfax Christian is ranked second).
Riley Jacobs and Kyan Bowman certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Jacobs scored 20 points along with nine rebounds, while Bowman scored 14 points along with five assists. The match was Jacobs' eighth in a row with at least ten points.
Elijah Adegbenro was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds for Fairfax Christian. The team also got some help courtesy of Frank Siaca Bey, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.
St. Stephen's & St. Agnes bumped their record down to 4-4 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Fairfax Christian, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.
St. Stephen's & St. Agnes will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Severn School at 10:00 a.m. on December 23rd. Fairfax Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Shining Star Sports Academy at 12:30 p.m. on December 23rd.
