Penn is 7-2 against New Prairie since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Kingsmen are taking a road trip to challenge the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Penn 3.4, New Prairie 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Penn is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Indiana's top teams: Crown Point, who was ranked eighth at the time (Penn was ranked 12th). The Kingsmen fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 6-5 on Friday. The Kingsmen's loss signaled the end of their 13-game winning streak.

Olivia Signorino spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, Ava Zachary was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Camille Biever, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, New Prairie waltzed into their contest on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 6-1.
Kerrigan Evans was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Harmon, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
New Prairie's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Penn, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-3.
Penn's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's match. The Kingsmen have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for New Prairie, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Penn continue to outrun the ball?
Penn came out on top in a nail-biter against New Prairie in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Kingsmen since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
