Pomeroy was forced to take a big loss against they on Tuesday, they got the better of them on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Colton Wildcats. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by seven runs or more this season.
Jett Slusser made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Pomeroy is 4-1 when Slusser allows one or fewer earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise. Slusser was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Boone Schmidt was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Treyton Kimble, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.
Pomeroy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Pomeroy now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Colton, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-8.
Looking ahead, Pomeroy will head out to take on Colfax at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a five-game losing streak. Colton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
