The St. Maries Lumberjacks will face off against the Orofino Maniacs at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Orofino will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: St. Maries extended their winning streak to five on Friday. The Lumberjacks came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 11-10 W against Grangeville.
Addilynn Turner was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Averie Baird, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Orofino made easy work of Kellogg on Friday and carried off a 25-4 win. The Maniacs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by ten runs or more this season.
Orofino got a massive performance out of Taylor Burrowes, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Livia Johnson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Orofino always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They are 7-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
St. Maries' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Orofino, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. St. Maries has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Orofino struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
St. Maries couldn't quite finish off Orofino when the teams last played two weeks ago and fell 8-6. Will the Lumberjacks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
