The Lumberton Pirates were the 58-51 winner over the Jack Britt Buccaneers when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Lumberton was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 48-47 to Jack Britt.
When it comes to explaining why Lumberton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dimetrious Jones. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with four steals. The game was Jones' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Amare Jones was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Among those leading the charge was Tysean Major, who scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was Ryan Lord, who scored six points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Lumberton's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Jack Britt, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.
Lumberton will be playing in front of their home fans against South View at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully South View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Friday. Jack Britt will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Seventy-First at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th.
