Basketball Recap: York Takes a Loss

York managed to keep up with South Point until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The York Cougars lost 85-63 to the South Point Red Raiders. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Red Raiders recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Despite the loss, York saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Alex Mcilwain dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mcilwain has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of James Love, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 boards.

South Point's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaishawn Woods, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten boards. Woods' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Landon Hunt was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points along with six boards and six steals.

York's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for South Point, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

York didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 81-42 loss against Marvin Ridge on the 7th. As for South Point, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-57 victory against Catawba Ridge on the 6th.
