If the Newberry Bulldogs were feeling good off their 32-12 takedown of the Abbeville Panthers last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Newberry was dealt a 55-25 loss at the hands of the Wildcats on Friday. Newberry was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-11.
Ninety Six was led to victory by Katie Fortner and Janiyah Squire. Fortner scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Squire dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Squire hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Olivia Coster, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Newberry's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Ninety Six, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Mid-Carolina the next time they take the court. Ninety Six will host Mid-Carolina at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Newberry will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
