Stratford is 0-7 against Masuk since May of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. The Red Devils will welcome the Panthers at 4:15 p.m. Stratford has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Monday just wasn't the day for Stratford's offense. They came up short against New Milford on Monday, falling 12-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Red Devils were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Masuk). They put the hurt on New Milford with a sharp 8-2 victory on Tuesday.
Julia Bacoulis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grace Ely, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sofia Lieto, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Masuk pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Stratford, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Masuk's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Stratford hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .364. It's a different story for Masuk, though, as they've only averaged .241. Will they be able to contain Stratford's hitters?
Stratford might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Masuk in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Red Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
