Norwalk is 2-7 against Staples since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Norwalk Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Staples Wreckers at 7:00 p.m. Norwalk is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
Last Friday, Norwalk earned a 53-43 victory over New Canaan. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Norwalk has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Staples faced St. Bernard in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Staples fell 70-59 to St. Bernard on Monday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mason Tobias, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Sam Clachko was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Norwalk pushed their record up to 5-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for Staples, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Norwalk came up short against Staples in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 69-58. Thankfully for Norwalk, Chris Zajac (who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
