It was a good run, but the Overton Mustangs unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They suffered a rough 55-32 defeat at the hands of Joaquin. Overton found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 27 to 8 on offense.
When it comes to explaining why Overton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kayla Nobles. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was Nobles' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Emery, who scored seven points.
Leading Joaquin to victory were Ke'maria Wilson and Ellie Anglin. Wilson scored nine points along with nine rebounds and four steals, while Anglin scored 20 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Those five rebounds set a new season-high mark for Anglin. Another player making a difference was Jessie Webb, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Overton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Joaquin, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Overton will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against West Rusk at 6:00 p.m. on December 7th. Hopefully West Rusk focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Thursday. Joaquin won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Woden at 12:00 p.m. on December 8th.
