The Wellsville Eagles entered their tilt with the Iola Mustangs with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Wellsville breezed by Iola at home to the tune of 73-46. Wellsville's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Iola lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Cortland Carson. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Grady Dougherty, who scored four points along with seven rebounds.
Wellsville pushed their record up to 6-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points per game. As for Iola, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Wellsville will head out on the road to take on Baldwin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Iola, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Paul at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Paul comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
