After a string of three wins, the Cedar Valley Aviators's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were the victim of a rough 69-44 defeat at the hands of Pleasant Grove. Cedar Valley found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 22 to ten on offense.
Despite the loss, Cedar Valley saw an underclassman step up: Hadley Whiting scored 16 points. Whiting is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now stole two or more in the last three games she's played. Eva Okusi was another key contributor, scoring 5 points along with 5 rebounds.
Pleasant Grove's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tabi Clark, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lily Evans, who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds.
Cedar Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Pleasant Grove, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cedar Valley will take on Layton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Allowing an average of 63 points per game, Layton has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this match. As for Pleasant Grove, they will head out on the road to face off against Maple Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Maple Mountain is ranked 28th, while Pleasant Grove is ranked 35th).
