Denton has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Lake Dallas Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Denton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 443rd, while the Falcons are ranked 218th).
Denton suffered their closest defeat since December 9, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Grapevine by a score of 56-53.
Despite the defeat, Denton saw an underclassman step up: Ethan Sheats dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Sheats is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down 11 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Chase Thomas, who scored six points along with five assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Lake Dallas lost to the Panthers on the road by a decisive 48-31 margin on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lake Dallas has scored all season.
Denton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-20 record this season. As for Lake Dallas, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-11.
Denton and the Falcons were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in January, but the Broncos came up empty-handed after a 56-55 loss. Can Denton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
