Ohio County hasn't had much luck against Franklin-Simpson recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Wildcats. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Ohio County comes in on five and Franklin-Simpson on three.
Ohio County will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Butler County, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Bears 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted against the Bears since May 8, 2017.
Meanwhile, Franklin-Simpson won against Bowling Green on Thursday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Wildcats never let Trinity get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory.
The result came thanks to Piper West's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kloie Smith was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had over her last nine games.
Franklin-Simpson's win bumped their record up to 22-14. As for Ohio County, their victory bumped their record up to 14-10.
