Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Shalyn Lawrence and Raegan Castle Lead Upper Scioto Valley to Victory

Upper Scioto Valley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Calvary Christian Spartans as they made off with a 46-21 victory. That looming 46-21 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Rams yet this season.

Upper Scioto Valley was led to victory by Raegan Castle and Shalyn Lawrence. Castle posted ten points and six rebounds, while Lawrence earned nine points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Lawrence a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Ivie Gonzalez, who had five points.

Upper Scioto Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Calvary Christian still got an impressive performance from Kaylie Carter, who put up eight points.

Upper Scioto Valley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-11 record this season. As for Calvary Christian, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
