Basketball Recap: Westerly Skates Past Chariho with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westerly). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Chariho Chargers 66-25. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Westerly was led to victory by Ella Reyes and Nova Woodward. Reyes dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 boards, while Woodward posted 20 points and five assists. The game was Reyes' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cece Saint, who had seven points.

Westerly smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Westerly is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Chariho, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-8.

Westerly has already played their next game, a 70-25 win against Cranston West on the 18th. As for Chariho, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-20 loss against North Kingstown on the 20th.
