For the first time this season, Parkway will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Versailles Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Parkway proved they can win big on Friday (they won by nine) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Allen East, sneaking past 5-4.
Perry Schwieterman looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Xavier Samples was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Braedn Conn, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Versailles got themselves on the board against Russia on Tuesday, but Russia never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Raiders.
Ross Francis and Ian Bergman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Francis didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Meanwhile, Bergman pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Francis a new career-high. At bat, Francis scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Bergman scored a run while going 1-for-3. That stolen base was Francis' first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jace Watren, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Matt Subler was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
The win got Versailles back to even at 2-2. As for Parkway, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Parkway suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Versailles in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
