Basketball Game Preview: Holy Cross Knights vs. Geneva Eagles

The Holy Cross Knights will venture away from home to challenge the Geneva Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Holy Cross is coming into the match on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight victories. They strolled past Incarnate Word Academy with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 69-54.

Aaron Garcia was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 10 on his way to 17 points in addition to eight assists and seven boards. The contest was his 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Herrera, who posted ten points.

Meanwhile, Geneva waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Guardians 88-60. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 20 points or more this season.

Holy Cross has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points per game. As for Geneva, they pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Holy Cross came up short against Geneva in their previous matchup back in January, falling 58-54. Can Holy Cross avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
