Marquette Catholic is 2-8 against Andrean since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Marquette Catholic Blazers will head out on the road to challenge the Andrean Fighting 59ers at 2:00 p.m. Marquette Catholic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 307th, while Andrean is ranked 110th).
Last Tuesday, Marquette Catholic earned a 65-52 victory over Whiting.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marquette Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Vaughn Rael-Kludt, who scored 15 points along with six steals. Rael-Kludt has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleks Pecoski, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Andrean's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Griffith by a score of 68-66. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
The victory got Marquette Catholic back to even at 6-6. As for Andrean, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-7.
Marquette Catholic beat Andrean 76-63 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marquette Catholic since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
