Lamar is 1-7 against Baptist Prep since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lamar Warriors will be home for the holidays to greet the Baptist Prep Eagles at 7:00 a.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lamar has three straight wins, Baptist Prep has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Tuesday, everything went Lamar's way against Dover as Lamar made off with a 56-35 win. Given Lamar's advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Dover is ranked 236th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lamar's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lane Miller, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Caleb Green was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Baptist Prep's 13-5 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a hard 46-28 fall against Perryville on Friday.
Lamar's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Baptist Prep, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-7.
Lamar came up short against Baptist Prep in their previous meeting back in January, falling 53-45. Can Lamar avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
