San Leandro is 2-8 against Bishop O'Dowd since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The San Leandro Pirates will head out on the road to square off against the Bishop O'Dowd Dragons at 7:00 p.m. San Leandro has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 22.
Last Wednesday, San Leandro ended up a good deal behind Piedmont and lost 57-38. While losing is never fun, San Leandro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 685th, while Piedmont is ranked 169th).
Meanwhile, Bishop O'Dowd was able to grind out a solid win over St. Joseph Notre Dame on Wednesday, taking the game 62-52.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bishop O'Dowd to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joshua Green, who scored 17 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Green has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Leo Chapman, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
San Leandro's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-21. As for Bishop O'Dowd, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.
San Leandro was dealt a bruising 81-45 defeat at the hands of Bishop O'Dowd when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Chapman, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Now that San Leandro knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
