Portland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 71-46 to the North Branford Thunderbirds. One positive for the Highlanders, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Despite the defeat, Portland saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kelsey Desmarais posted 16 points and five rebounds. Elizabeth Barr was another key player, putting up eight points.

Even though they lost, Portland was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Portland's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for North Branford, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Portland will venture away from home to take on Haddam-Killingworth at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Branford, they will host Old Lyme at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
