Softball Recap: Constantine Extends Winning Streak to Five

Constantine extended their winning streak to five on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 11-2 in the process. They put the hurt on the Gobles Tigers with a sharp 14-4 win. Considering the Falcons have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaitlyn Ross was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Anndee Evans and Olivia Herlein did most of the damage at the plate: Evans got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI, while Herlein went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Evans has posted since back in March. Olivia Ransbottom was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Constantine kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive contests.

Having lost for the first time this season, Gobles fell to 6-1. The game marked their lowest-scoring match so far this season.

On Gobles' side, Daisy Jackson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Rosie Bowman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Constantine will have a chance to go back-to-back against Gobles: the pair will be back at it again later today.
