Alexander hasn't had much luck against Eagle Pass recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Alexander Bulldogs are taking a road trip to challenge the Eagle Pass Eagles at 7:00 p.m.
Alexander's last matchup with Medina Valley could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. Alexander came up short against Medina Valley, falling 8-2. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.
Alexander saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacquelyn Tijerina, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Eagle Pass hadn't done well against South San Antonio recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Saturday. Eagle Pass sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over South San Antonio. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since February 25, 2020, but that streak is no more.
Roccia Moreno made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other pitching news, Sofia Torres looked comfortable as she tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Mia Silva was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Karina Gomez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Eagle Pass pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Alexander, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.
Alexander might still be hurting after the 11-4 defeat they got from Eagle Pass when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Alexander avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
