The Downingtown East Cougars will face off against the Bishop Shanahan Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Downingtown East is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Downingtown East took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over Great Valley. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won seven in a row.

Downingtown East let Madison Baroni and Sophia Gange run wild. Baroni went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Gange went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Gange a new career-high. Lilly Waterer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Downingtown East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Bishop Shanahan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Bayard Rustin, falling 9-3.

Bishop Shanahan saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mikayla Palantino, who went 1-for-4 with two runs.

Downingtown East's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Shanahan, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
