Football Game Preview: Bloomington Purple Raiders vs. Mascoutah Indians + How To Watch

Two dominant backs in Ky'Veon Chestnut and Sean Murphy are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Bloomington Purple Raiders will host the Mascoutah Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Bloomington turned things around against Centennial on Friday. They breezed past the Chargers to the tune of 37-6. The Purple Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 31 points or more this season.

Bloomington's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keyontae Hamilton, who threw for 198 yards and three touchdowns. A healthy portion of that aerial production (94 yards to be exact) went to Cooper Childers, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Bloomington didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Israel Lukoji, Carter Tindall, and Childers picked up one apiece. Lukoji got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mascoutah). They strolled past Carbondale with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 47-28.

Mascoutah's win came from a few key players Bloomington will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Nygel Bowers, who rushed for 83 yards and three TDs on only seven carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 54 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Noah Collins was another key player, rushing for 185 yards and one score.

Bloomington's record now sits at 6-3. As for Mascoutah, their record is now an identical 6-3.
