It was a good run, but the Boulder City Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 63-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Del Sol. Boulder City was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Del Sol apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Boulder City's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julia Carmichael, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. Carmichael is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Addie Doane was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 7 assists and 6 steals.
Even though they lost, Boulder City were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Del Sol only pulled down 18.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Del Sol to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ricana Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 10 rebounds. Taylor has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Morgan White, who scored 18 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Boulder City's loss dropped their record down to 4-1. As for Del Sol, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boulder City will take on Pinecrest Academy Cadence at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Del Sol, they will be playing at home against Canyon Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Canyon Springs will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nevada Rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Del Sol is ranked second).
