Softball Game Preview: Quincy Trojans vs. Maxwell Panthers

The Quincy Trojans will take on the Maxwell Panthers at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Quincy will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Quincy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 20-4 margin over Portola on Tuesday. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Jemma Trueblood was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jenna Peay was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with five RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Marleigh Merino, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

Quincy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Maxwell lost 16-2 to CORE Butte two weeks ago. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Quincy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Maxwell, their loss dropped their record down to 4-15.
