If The Jackson County Panthers were feeling good off their 36-7 takedown of the Shiloh Generals two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Jackson County's tough 31-7 defeat to Lanier on Friday might stick with them for a while. Having soared to a lofty 36 points in the game before, Jackson County couldn't push the score so high this time.
Despite the loss, Jackson County still got an impressive performance from Jaydan Hibbert, who picked up 116 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Lanier got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Preston Ratliff out in front who threw for 259 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt. Lanier also got help from Dmajai Hightower who showed off his sure hands for 115 receiving yards.
Jackson County's loss was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 4-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.7 points per game. As for Lanier, the win was the third in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Jackson County will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Gainesville at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. As for Lanier, they will head out on the road to face off against Shiloh at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Shiloh will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while Lanier is ranked 76th).
